Magnet Program

The Magnet Program in District 54 aims to EnsureStudent Success by expanding and deepening their learning.

Students from throughout the district are invited from grades three through six into the magnet program, which is housed at Campanelli Elementary School. Currently, there is one third and fourth grade multi-age class, and two fifth and sixth grade multi-age classes.

The magnet curriculum is based on the Illinois State Learning Standards, but students go deeper into the content  through the reading of higher level texts, research, and creation of projects to apply their understanding. The most successful magnet students are strong readers, motivated, curious, ask questions, want to learn more, and work well with others. The magnet teachers work with students on overcoming challenges, the 4 C’s (collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking), as well as developing/social emotional and executive functioning skills.  Information about the rigor and expectations of students, families, and teachers in the program is below:
